Laois native Mary Donohue was amongst the recipients at last night's GAA President’s Awards held at Croke Park.

Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael Críostóir Ó Cuana presented the awards to 16 recipients at a gala dinner.

A founding member of Harps Camogie Club, Mary was commended for her unstinting dedication to the club, occupying a variety of roles since its establishment in 1995.

Speaking about the award Uachtarán Cumann Camógaíochta na nGael Joan O’Flynn: "I am delighted to congratulate Mary Donohue on receiving the GAA President's Award for her contribution to Camogie in her native club The Harps in Laois. Voluntarism brings Camogie to life all over the country. Mary is typical of many people doing extraordinary things developing Camogie everyday in schools, clubs and parishes. On behalf of the Camogie Association I am very pleased to recognise Mary and her family's dedication and generosity in 'giving something back' and making a lasting contribution to her community".

The GAA President’s Awards acknowledge the contribution of volunteers and are drawn from the wider spectrum of the GAA family, to include representatives from all four provinces, Camogie, Ladies Football, GAA Rounders, GAA Handball, Scór and the Overseas and Schools sectors.

This year’s winners will also be presented to the crowd at Croke Park at half time in today's AIB GAA Club Championship Football final.

This is the seventh year of the awards scheme.
