Under 14 County Coillte Blitz
There were eight counties taking part in the Coillte blitz this year, Armagh, Cork, Donegal, Kildare, Kilkenny, Limerick, Mayo, Wicklow, Limerick sent two eams with each team playing two matches against Armagh. The teams arrived in Croke Prk at 10.30am where they were greeted by inter county camogie stars before being addressed by our president Joan Flynn.
All eight counties paraded behind a piper around the hallowed ground of Croker before singing the national anthem. Our first match threw in at 11:30, with both panels getting a full half hour on the pitch.
The Limerick girls were to the fore in both games against a young and in experienced Armagh, all the development blitzes and early morning sessions paying dividends, Armagh battled well throughout but some excellent score taking from all our girls saw both Limerick teams winning comfortably, after the games our girls were entertained for the day, firstly a talk by inter county players was followed by a wall ball session and a tour of the Croke park museum.
The day was rounded off with the girls getting to climb the steps of the Hogan stand, (like their hero’s before) to be presented with certs to commemorate their day out.
A wonderful weekend for all of Limerick camogie, well done to the players the mentors and especially the families and friends who made all this a weekend not to be forgotten. Thanks …….

Limerick GAA Yearbook 2009
Limerick GAA will this year publish a Yearbook on the happenings for the year past. The book will feature many articles of interest to both young and old. Material for the publication is currently being assembled and the currently we are seeking contributions from the gaels of the city and county.
In particular the editors are looking for photographs of club or county teams, action shots or old GAA pictures that will add character to the publication be they recent or from the past.
This year as we know is the 125th Anniversary of the GAA and quite an effort has been placed in producing the book. There will be a number of articles of historical interest in the book along with all the news and reviews of the year past in the world of Limerick GAA. The editors are expecting that the book, which will be published in full colour throughout, will reach well over 250 pages and will be of general interest as mentioned to both young and old alike.
All the clubs of the county have already been asked to make a contribution on their clubs activities of the year gone and also submit photos, one old and three current pictures. But if you feel you that you have a photograph that would be of interest to the editors, whether it be current or from years of the past, then please send them onto limerickgaayearbook09@gmail.com
If you have any questions or queries on the publication or if you wish to help out in anyway then contact this email address or get in contact with Liam Lenihan Chairperson of Limerick GAA.
The deadline for the submission of photographs and articles is November 1st, any material submitted after that will not be considered for the publication.
The book will be ready and on general sale to the public for Friday December 4th.
The Limerick Colleges Camogie AGM will be held on
Wednesday 4th November 2009 in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale at 7pm
It is essential that at least one delegate from each school is present at the meeting. Affiliation is 30euro this year, every school with affiliation paid on the night will get home venue where possible.
