A very determined Rockban side who many had pencilled in to be county champions last season made the team who will participate in Senior A for 2008 fight all the way before the double was secured and on their performance they will be formidable opponents for anybody in the season ahead.

Douglas 4-5 Ballincollig 3-7

An exciting finish to this Tower View Developments 2007 minor camogie champion’s final as Douglas had to call on all their experience to edge out Ballincollig by the narrowest of margins. Douglas led by nine points at the half time whistles but Ballincollig played with their hearts on their sleeves in the second half as they fought  back to get on level terms with seven minutes remaining.  A goal from Julia White and a point from Katriona Mackey helped Douglas shade it in the finish despite a late Holly Coomey’s goal for Ballincollig.

St Brenda’s Camogie Club Ballymacnab had a highly enjoyable and successful 40th Anniversary Gala Night in Armagh City Hotel on Saturday night past. Almost 350 guests had a great evening’s entertainment and joined in the clubs honouring of the 1968 team who started it all off 40 years ago. Also honoured on the night were the six surviving members of the girls who played camogie for the Ballymacnab and Foley teams back in the late 1930’s.

European Hurling and Camogie season gets underway this weekend in Luxembourg

This weekend sees the start of the European Hurling season in Luxembourg, when teams from Brussels, The Hague, Zurich and the hosts commence battle for the 2009 European Hurling Championship. The Hague will be aiming to retain the title they won last year after a three in a row record by Zurich. However, the hosts, Luxembourg will be exceptionally hard to beat at home, whilst Brussels were very close to glory last year.
